Our review Redmi Note 7 came with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and Redmi Note 7 has sweet spot as far as configuration Redmi Note 7 goes – 3GB / 32GB is cutting it a bit fine in terms of system resources, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 while 128GB of storage is great, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 costs quite a lot more too. So here it is guys the new Xiaomi well its not actually called a Xiaomianymore its a readmi its the redmi note 7 its their new sub brand ofbudget mobile phones so they have pocophone theyve got black shark and nowRedmi so three sub brands for the mobile division at least that is thattheyve got so whats interesting about this phone well we have a phone that hasa quite a good price point 150 us that is in China however that theyre sellingit for with three gigabytes of RAM and 32 thats the start out model the basemodel so the one Ive got here that I picked up as a black version and thisone has four gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage its got thesnapdragon 616 as the cpu and then the camera on the rear 48 megapixels thefront-facing selfie cam is 13 your full specs are right up here.

If youreinterested in that it has a full thousand milliamp hour battery so thebetter luck should be good and it does look very promising for that price pointso lets check it out so here is our box redmi note 7 talking about now anextended warranty on this it used to be 12 months its now 18 months but ofcourse and thats in China and then you just get a little bit of a rundown righthere of the specs on the back that we are already pretty much aware of so itlooks like we have a TPU case here now I got the black version so right here wehave the sim tray tool thats to eject that out of course a couple ofinstruction manual if that things does look to be in Chinese and they are andhere is that TPU case.

I will show you this on the phone in only a minute youcan see its one of those cheaper kind of cases but its great to have this atleast in the box so we know straight away yet weve got some protection forthe phone and it does of course cover the buttons on the side which is greatso there is our phone and no ones used this yet which is great I can see thattheres no air bubbles underneath that and here we have our cable and thecharger so this is a standard charger this one here this is the 10 wattcharger now there is an option in China to get the 18 watt charger which is alot faster of course so this one is with a maximum output of 5 volts 2m so itsnot going to be super fast or anything like that but it should do full chargethe phone in about 2 hours and 10 minutes and then here is our cable soits the typical xiaomi 1 so type C finally finally they have used up theirmicro USB stock okay so lets check the weight like Ialways do with my phone reviews so 187 grams thats not bad and eight point twomillimeters thick however thats without that big camera bump which is quite tallyou can see because that then brings it up to ten millimeters or just under sohere we have down the bottom the type-c port loudspeaker and one of these oneswill be the microphone so not jeweled firing downwards speakers I think thefront-facing earpiece does double as a loudspeaker but Ill confirm that inthis video so its glass on the rear it has a very nice smooth edges to it andit looks to me like a painted alloy frame that goes around the outside so sofar I mean the build quality to me looks really good so the SIM tray will takeeither a micro SD card nano SIM or two nano zooms 

It has a rubber gasket aroundhere so it does not have an IP rating officially but apparently there is somesplash resistance with this phone you can see there a gasket around it and yesit does have a metal frame too so its not susceptible to bending up the top wehave a secondary mic the use for noise cancellation and in video a 3.5millimeter audio jack and yes it still retains the IR transmitter so great tohave 3.5 mini headphone jack and still have the IR transmitter there as wellyou can see the earpiece at the top it looks a little bit wider than normal nowwe have this what you could call like a water drop or a tear drop not shown herenow this is a lot better than a big huge wide notch this camera is 13 megapixelsso it is a bit of a downgrade compared to some of the other cameras that wevegot on front-facing cameras at least there are 20 megapixels here in terms ofmegapixels that is weve got an ambient light sensor right here and I can seejust inside the earpiece up here theyve got other sensors so that would probablybe the proximity sensor thats in there as well then on the right side weve gotthe volume and power buttons. made out a middle weve got a good feel to themthey are also painted as well now this lip at the top there you can see thatsplastic so its a plastic that meets and mates in with the rear housing that ithas on here so in the case you can see now that it doesnt actually offerprotection for the screen because the case itself does not raise up higherthan the screen.

If you place it on a table it is then gonna get scratched andthe same goes for the camera unfortunately you can see the camerabump does not get any protection at all so same story place it down on a tableand it could end up getting the lens scratch therefor a starter case that we get in the box I think its fine it does at leastprotect their buttons as I pointed out and its better than nothing and doesgive the phone a little bit of grip because right now here and winter myhands are cold this is a glass phone and it is super slippery so out of the boxthe phone does come with a rather large update that you need to install onepoint eight gigabytes and thatll bring it up then to me or I version ten pointtwo point five so my phone has four gigabytes around the other version thecheapest one has only three and out of the sixty four gigabytes that Ive gotIve got 49 free available to me Im of course installing apps and things at themoment and it is running Android 9 security patch level from December andfor those of you out there that must know the sensor information well thereyou go theres the two back cents as you can see using Samsung the front camerais an omni version 13 megapixel one and because this is not the global ROMversion this is the Chinese version its the only one thats out at the momentyoure gonna get a lot of this bloatware Chinese blow where now luckily you canand install most of this rubbish. 

I just simply go through either here the UI orthrough the settings and go and just remove them one by oneso lets take a look now at the screen in a little bit of detail have noticedthat just like the view 20 that I reviewed that around where this waterdropped notches were getting a little bit of uneven backlight distribution soyou see like a darkness coming in on the edges its noticeable on the sides aswell so the bezels yeah the top and bottom bezels theyre not the smallestbut I feel for the price that this phone is selling for I mean its perfectlysuitable its fine and the water drop or teardrop notch whatever you want to callit I think is a good substitute instead of having a big wide not unlike allother Xiaomi phones since I think it was menu I seven or eight or something wevegot this option here so under the contrast and colors under display youcan adjust the white balance and you can just put it on to standard which looks alittle bit more correct thats the best white balance there so if you want themmore correct white balance thats the one to have it on but of course out ofthe box its on the automatic contrast so our maximum brightness is good its575 lux which is very good I feel for the price now when have a look at thegamma it is off its about 1.8 and it should be 2.2 real-world images they docome out good on the screen and again factoring in the price I mean the blackson this IPS theyre not the deepest but they are recently dude so that is reallythe only complaint. 

I have is just that edge bleating about darkness weregetting around the edges around the teardrop notch that is really ad overallI feel again factoring on that price that this is nota bad IPS screen its even better than the one that Ive seen in the honor ofu-20 and if youre wondering where is the status LED well here it is rightdown here in the chin in a very unusual location I put it here obviously theydidnt have room to put it up the top so I wanted to talk now about the generalperformance show you a couple of benchmarks so I have noticed that attimes you will get just the minor slightest tiniest little bit of a fullstream screen gesture lag coming in but overall it seems to be pretty good whenyou go through multitasking so well bring up here the antutu score and a lotof you like to see that so heres the ante to score almost 140,000 not a badscore for this chipset so maximum turbos 2.2 gigahertz eight cores it isreally quite good paired up with the four gigabytes of RAM on my particularmodel here now DRM info whoops I just accidentally closed them and Ill justbring that up for you now so DRM info of course its wide fine level securitythree level so that means no net flux and full HD we need security level onefor that Chinese manufacturers theyre not going through that process to getthe cert for that and its happening on a lot of tablets and a lot of the tickthat I review its only huai whether it seems to bother to get level one so bearthat in mind with a budget device is it a deal break and not having Netflix infull HD I dont know I dont watch Netflix on my mobile phone normally sothe storage internal storage should just bring up a couple of benchmarks to ofthat here we go so it does have a MMC 5.1 specs storage now I expected thiswere not going to get you FS 2.1 not at the price point of this and those speedsare fine its not going to be bottleneckingand the system here at all with that and also to test out the wireless so he cansee this is actually LTE speeds here in Spain not bad at all 35 download thesignal strength perception all seems to be fine there and here was my wirelessspeed test too so thats perfect no problems with that GPS as well itsworking good if we get almost all of the satellites locked on to first lock tookabout 30 seconds and then around town everything has no problemtracking me accuracy will hover around the four meters that you can see hereand.

I open something like Twitter here I think Ive already got that openin the background so how is the performance of that loading that in justget it to refresh and then scrolling its quite good as you can see it doestake a little while in the beginning because it has so many images and thingsto load up so its gonna be a little bit slower there its just that the fullscreen just your legs sometimes that I am sing just between swapping over todifferent applications and then going back home you will now and then said soits almost completely gone just not hundreds in all right so what about theloudspeakers so Ive tested out before I come in on the loudspeaker the 3.5millimeter headphone jack and it sounds good this is typical Jeremy to me itsounds perfectly fine theres no real issue there whether it allowed us isokay now there is no second allowed speaker in the earpiece hereunfortunately and I thought that might have been the case because it was sowide but definitely not its only firing out from the bottom but I will give youa sample of it but just to add that the loudness I feel should be a little bitlouder on the bottom loudspeaker its not a deal-breaker or anything like thatits still loud but it just could be a little bit louder anyway heres thatsampleI just demonstrated face unlocking I have the lift to wake enabled so youjust lift the phone up and then look at it it unlocks it is very quick as youcan see. 

I do that one more time for you so lift it up looks at me unlocks nowthe thinker print reader on the rear of course there is always on and when youtouch it it unlocks instantly and about well under half a second its very quickso.

I do that you know touch it now and you can see thats how quick it isnow bomb very quick so no problems with the face unlocking all the fingerprintreader now for gaming performance Im going to test out pop G here with thehigh frame rates inning and then HD is our graphics lets see how it performsso you can see pump G is running fine theres another couple of players hereso Im probably gonna actually just die already okay it doesnt seem to be badat all to me in the high setting youre not really getting much lag if anyactually that seems to be pretty good okay tiny little bit then when scrollingaround this title here is shadow gun legends and it is running on highsettings and visually it looks stunning this one you get a little tiny bit ofslowdown here and there but overall the performance is good and Im not reallynoticing any major frame dips so its not like Im playable like it was on thealder cube X tablet that I looked at which had a very old mediatek chip andit couldnt handle this game with a snapdragon 616 handling this one justfine just before I show you some camerasamples this is the camera app so typical Xiaomi camera app me why 10 afew little tweaks and things in here. 

AIl mode your filters HDRs off bydefault video mode portrait mode using the dualcameras itll stitch together an image Ill give you samples of that shortlyand with video here I just wanted to point out that if go into the settingsthat we do have this right here which is electronic image stabilization you cansee our video quality the maximum setting is 1080p 60 frames per secondIm gonna shoot it in 30 because actually looks a little bit better so no4k 4k is missing for some reason but anyway here are those samplesso heres a video sample theres a front facing camera and we get 1080p max heretheres a no electronic image stabilization so its gonna be a littlebit shaky the crop on it is actually quite good which is fine I find theaudio quality as well yeah its alright its not the best but Ive definitelyheard a lot worse than this overall front-facing video quality.

I think itsgood its not bad so this video is being shot at 1080p 30 frames per secondthere is no 4k option you have to use a third-party app at the moment or evencamera for that now there is a bit of wind noise that gets picked up here itsa little bit windy at the moment and you can see the electronic imagestabilization in 1080p here is working fine like Im walking forward and itstaking my legs out of it and there is a bit of a problem at times I find withthe focus it does tend to hunt a little bit now and then depending on theconditions its not as good to focus as the redmi note 2 5 whether its dualpixel face detection autofocus you notice that yeah it works but sometimesisnt gonna work there the focus comes into play now but with their redmi note5 there would not be a problem there whether its dual pixel autofocus and wedo have at least 4k with electronic image stabilizationthanks to that application I mentioned open camera and you can see its workingquite well as long as youve got a steady here my hand is not the speediestthis is now sample of video in low-light now the sun went down about an half anhour an hour ago so theres still a little bit of light around you can see alot of grain starts to creep into the image and they focus then does start tostruggle quite a bit and.

I found that the low-light photography as you singfrom my samples is not wonderful and its kind of what you expect in thiscategory and the price of course of this phone were not wonderful at low-lightalright so to quickly recap here we have an excellent build quality so Ive got amiddle frame around the outside that is painted glass on the rear we do haveGorilla Glass 5 I think is on the front screen too which is good and its gonnabe a little bit more scratch resistant a little bit more resistant to drops tooso the water drop notch does look okay Im fine with it I thought it wouldbother me but its not really that bad at all in fact I think itbetter than the punch hole in the screen of those two mobiles that I reviewedthat had to hold their I think this is better so we have a very good build yesfor the price definitely its excellent type C port finally no more micro USBports finally the view start of his stock Xiaomi. 

I was getting really sickof micro USB ports but thats good so the voice quality I have made some voicecalls on this very good face unlocking very fast as I demonstrated you justlook at it and it unlocks its really quick in fact Ill do it now and itunlocks its really good fingerprint reader as well do that Ill just touchit now but really quick no complaints with that whatsoever so it does have alarge 4000 milliamp hour battery on here and my estimate is about 9 to 10 hoursof screen on time with the IPS panel that this has on hereour charging time is going to be just over about 2 hours if youre using the10 watt charger it does support the faster 18 watt charges so that time willthen drop down to just under about an hour and 50 minutes but I will haveexact figures are with battery life in an up-and-coming video maybe like afterthree or four days of using this phone at least to get those kind of figuresthere so the camera quality yes weve got 48 million pixel sensor on the rearand yeah I mean the the photo quality I think is good its not amazing but forthe price it certainly does take a good photo the portrait mode stitching aswell seems to be good front facing camera okaybed to see no 4k support yet with video so hopefully theyre going to add thatlater on now the ROM performance very smooth for the most part if youre got areal keen eye you can see tiny little micro stutters here and there now andthen just with the full screen just as it seems to happen theres somethingsbeen happening for a long time with Xiaomi 

It is almost completely goneIm still seeing a tiny little bit of it theres no LTE band 20 for those thatneed this but the Chinese version as well a lot of Chinese bloatware and itcomes to probably the biggest negative for me and this is me being very pickybut when you do look at the screen especially at the top at certain anglesyou will see that darkness that comes in there its not a PS bleed but its justa it seems to be from the manufacturing process to create that little notch atthe top that we are getting like this dimming this darkening of the pixelswere not getting a evenly distributed backlight the whites theyre especiallynoticeable as I pointed out when I showed you some of the screen at the topthats just not a super high quality IPS panel that is in theres the brightis good around 570 lux which is very good you can see it in daylight that isfine I feel again the charmese done it for the price of around about a hundredin this one cost about 200 us this four gigabytes of RAM and 64 bytes of storagefor the price you are getting a fantastic phone I can see that alreadyand theyve done it again theyve set the price for the quality of what youregetting the price point here really really good phone.
